It is official. Dirty George has been forcibly retired. And not a moment too soon. Dirty George is the nickname I gave to my 10+year old Wacom Graphire tablet. The pressure sensitivity is going out and even the new drivers just can't seem to cope with Windows 7 that well. I've been saving up for a long time and on Friday, my new baby came in the mail. A Wacom Cintiq!!! I'm in love to say the least. It came just in time for my color theory final and shaved hours off the time it would have taken to do the piece with Dirty George. I highly recommend it to any aspiring artist. Just be careful when shopping for it. Wacom recently redesigned the 21UX earlier this year (2010). It now has double the pressure sensitivity levels as the previous model and a bunch of other features to streamline the drawing experience. The problem is, alot of the online stores out there are selling the old model for the same price or even more than the newer model. I got mine from B and H photo. No gimmicks there, but the shipping was a bit high. I haven't decided on a nickname for my new tablet. I want to have a sleek and cool name for it to match its appearance. Dirty George fit well for my old tablet since the years of dust are noticeable under the plastic surface, not to mention all the scratches all over it too!
